What are the sonics like . I bought the DCC when it was first issued(sounds great) less harsh than the eagles box set. How does the MFSL compare.

The DCC Hotel California is horrible! Can't imagine it being much worse.
Buster,
For the price that they most likely want for it I'd stick with your DCC copy as it doesn't get any better.;)

Well... I'll just say that DCC kicks butt on MFSL every day of the week!
Hoffmanizing.... There is no comparison!
Hey Steve, you can use that as your slogan for the new S&P label!! :D :D

I agree throughly!!! I just found a copy of the DCC gold disc of this album the other day. You can really tell the difference between it and any Asylum CD pressings. Like night and day.
Hoffmanizing, LOL!!! Let's hope that service doesn't take just one hour!
AudioGirl,
Just curious as to which albums, and I assume you're talking vinyl, have you compared both DCC and MFSL to give such a firm statement?
If you're talking about cd's there are only two possible comparisons The Who: Who's next and Steppenwolf: S/T.
I've never heard the MFSL Who's Next, and frankly I am very happy with Steves version and I'm waiting for Steve's Steppenwolf to arrive soon and after I do a thorough comparison I'll let the forum know what (MHO) is.
Just to let ya know BTW if you haven't heard the MFSL's Tea For The Tillerman UD1, you're missin' out on a great recording.;)

Yes... Hotel California (remastered in 92) is the best available EAGLES remaster. I'm still surprised... it sounds sooo good, and still on the top in comparison against the latest EAGLES remaster (remastered with Hi Bit technology by Ted Jensen).
Steve one of your masterpieces in your career!!!

That's not DCC vs. MFSL, as the two you mentioned are MCA titles.
Plus, there's "Folk Singer" (MCA) and "Night at the Opera" (DCC).
And parts of Tull - Original Masters (DCC) and Elton John - GH (DCC) and the Beach Boys - Endless Summer (DCC).
Vinyl: Aqualung (DCC)
I'm sure I'm forgetting some...
Patrick,
Forgot about those titles. That'll teach me to post when I'm half asleep (3:00 am. PST).
I don't think that Queen would be a fair comparison though as it was the very first USA MFSL. The Tull's would be as long as they're the UD1's. I tend to think that The Beach Boys would a fair comparison. Folk singer would also be a good one.
I'll give E.J. the comparison as I've got those and get back here and give MHO.;)

After hearing DCC's Hotel, who needs to hear any other? That goes for the greatest hits also, but try the simply vinyl of "hell Freezes Over" sounds good to me!!!
I'm guessing here that none of you have heard the 24/192 mix of Hotel California available on DVD-Audio?
I hate to say this but...it toasts the DCC disc 6 ways from Sunday.
If you want this album in the best quality ever....that's the one. And I'm not even that big a fan of DVD-Audio.

Funny, I don't recall remixing "Hotel California" for DCC.

You're credited on my copy of the DCC gold CD with remastering, but not remixing.

Well after extensive listening (IMHO) to Elton Johns Greatest Hits DCC and Elton John Honkey Chateau MFSL UD1 all I can say is that Steves sounds more natural to me, although I did like the drum sounds on the MFSL (very full), I'd still choose Steves version to listen to more often.
You da man Steve!! Keep doin' what you do.;)
