This seems like a lot of work when you don't get any money from your work, no royalties or anything, but thought people might like to know about it anyhow. You do get a free flight to L.A. to meet Brian Wilson & attend a performance of SMiLE.http://www.brianwilson.com/contest/

...a nice project for a college student!

Good resume builder if you're a film student or something like that. You do pretty much sign away all rights to it if you win, no royalties from it's appearance on the SMiLE DVD and so forth, but at least they're up front about that.

Can't really think of anything that can go with this...Could o two ways literal or abstract. However too busy with other projects to even devote the time required of a project of this magnitude

Working in movies as I do I think may be a bit of a cheat - but I'm thinking about doing it. What the hell?

I've got a film editor who committed to doing it for me and I may gather a crew next week. Don't know what I'll shoot, though. I think everybody will be doing the "enactment of the lyrics"-thing - so I won't.

My brain is whirring away as we speak.

Great! It would be awesome to see someone from the forums win. I'd wish you luck but since it's considered bad luck to do so in the entertainment industry, break a leg! :edthumbs:

Thanks - if we come up with a strong idea we're going to go for it. I'll keep this thread posted.

Sounds like to much work for me, especially as it has to be ready for January!

Seeing as the deadline was yesterday and you didn't post anything further, I take it you didn't end up doing a SMiLE video, Jeff?

Yeah. Never came up with idea. It proved harder than I thought. Plus I got sick. Lots of excuses.

I had a storyline:
I'm at a BW concert (HE's THE HERO) and I'm trying to get his autograph but the security guards (THE VILLAINS) have other plans and will stop at nothing to get me further and further from a chance at meeting my idol.

Actually that's what happened when I went to go see SMiLE in Austin, Tx. I enjoyed the show, of course, but I really would've loved to have met him (or anyone in his band.)

Supposedly the winner was to be announced on January 20. Guess nobody entered.

Website says "Due of the massive number of videos submitted for entry to the above contest, the winner will not be announced until Februrary 1, 2005. Although the contest is now closed, you can view the page and rules by clicking on the link below."

So, they're still late, but at least they explained it.
