Have a mystery going on. I just purchased a new Toshiba TV and noticed on some cable stations there can be two people on screen, and the one on the right is noticably red whereas the person on the left is more natural. Also, I have Time Warner cable, and it is amazing how so many channels are too red, some too green, some too dark--it's impossible to find a happy medium with the adjustments.
One last bit, and this one is a question: I have my Boston Acoustic 90 center speaker atop the TV. Is this a problem?

Such as DVD, Laser Disc or VHS tape? If you've got a DVD player connected, you can rent Terminator 2 (Special edition), Star Wars Episode 1, or Gladiator and run the THX Optimode to calibrate your set. I only suggest this because it's cheaper than buying a $20 calibration disc (although my feeling is that if I bought an expensive new TV another $20 is a good investment).
My point is, you need to determine whether the problem is the TV or the cable somehow. The first place to start is by checking flesh tones through a source other than the cable. Good luck.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. The DVDs play crystal clear; however, when I switch back to cable to watch TV, man, each local station has its own strange color bias. Interesting to note, most true cable stations, CNN, etc, are fairly consistent with color.
What is going on???

Terry, you've answered your own question.

Sounds like it's been resolved (it's the damn cable company, surprise!), but for what it's worth, I do highly recommend getting the Avia calibration DVD. It runs around $30, I think.
It's excellent, and has very easy to follow instructions for getting the best out of your set. It even comes with color filters that you can look through to properly adjust the hue and color intensity.

I know Costco had the Avia discs for slightly over $20 a few months ago. It's a great disc to own!

I too have a Toshiba 20 inch set. Unlike any Sony I have worked with, one cannot adjust out the red push set in its color filter. If you set the other colors at the correct level red will be set too high. This is set up this way by most venders of NTSC sets so that they will look good in the store under bright blue overhead lighting with the sets set to their standard cool color temperature (blue bias).
