Personally, I'd rather see the higher selling MCA albums on SACD.

Gold & Platnum is ok, but "Pronounced" and "Second Helping" might be nice!

For 2nd Helping, the MFSL UD1 should serve you very very well. They're not as expensive as you'd expect, even on eBay. But where's the call for remasterings of "Nuthin' Fancy"? Nobody ever mentions that one. I think it's a great album, actually my first exposure to Skynyrd.

As for the Street Survivors album, the original flames cover LP I was lucky to pick up for cheaps sounds really really good. Nice tonal balance and the vinyl is surprisingly quiet.

Loading up on top-end sizzle with Skynyrd masterings would be a mistake, but if MCA/Universal does the mastering, expect tons of it. In hi-rez no less!

I think the MCA Skynyrd reissues sound great. Am I the only one? :-)

I have the reissues (with bonus tracks) of Second Helping, Nuthin' Fancy, and Gimme Back My Bullets, the original MCA CD of "Street Survivors" (it sounds GREAT), the deluxe edition of "One More From The Road," and the expanded edition of "Pronounced." All of 'em sound fantastic. I have all three CD versions of "One More From The Road," and the newest version (the "deluxe" one) is by far the best. Great sound!

I agree with Mike V that the UD1 Second Helping is incrediable! I also agree with Sckott that Street Survivors is in desperate need of Steve's help, along with Pronounced, Nuthin' Fancy, and Gimme Back My Bullets.

I just received Rock Of The 70's vol.2 with Sweet Home Alabama on it done by Steve. The MFSL is better than Steve's, but keep in mind that it wasn't given the same treatment as the normal DCC Gold cd would have.

PS. Steve it's Lynyrd Skynyrd, not Lynard Skynard.:rolleyes:

I think you'd really be impressed with the original LP (probably even early brownish label MCA pressings after they changed the cover art). My copy has great tone, it's quiet, and it sounds not too far removed from the master. Even the original flame cover version isn't too expensive, and it's really cool "LP sized"!

The only crappy sounding Skynyrd CD I have is "Freebird: The Movie." The levels jump around like crazy. Compression is okay, but sheesh....... LOL!

Remember "Shrinky Dinks", that magical plastic oven toy from the '70s? Just pop an LP in the oven at 250 for 15 minutes, and voila!

But for those of you watching, I have to recant some of what I said before. There's a lot of top end on the LP (I was going on memory before - my tastes have refined considerably since hanging out here!). But it still sounds like a couple minor corrections with a half-decent EQ, then burned to CDR would make for fine listening :)
