View Full Version : Anyone remember this Disney Christmas "special"?

When I was younger, I remember watching a VHS tape of a Disney Christmas special from TV.
I'm pretty sure it had 4 parts:
1. Chip and Dale putting up a Christmas tree.
2. Goofy demonstrates skiing (with his classic 'Ya-hoo-hoo-hooey' yell.)
3. Donald Duck has a huge snowball fight with his nephews (awesome.)
4. A Christmas Carol, the Dickens story, done Disney style with Mickey as Bob Crachit.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Did I imagine the whole thing? Is this available on DVD? I'm really not a Disney fan but I'd love to be able to watch this again.

Hmmm.... answered my own question.
1. "Pluto's Christmas Tree"
2. "The Art of Skiing"
3. "Donald's Snow Fight"
4. "Mickey's Christmas Carol"
Couldn't find any reference to them all being broadcast together, maybe I'm combining two specials in my head.
All are available on DVD, but not together. :(

I feel like they were all together in a special but maybe not.

I have a vague recollection of having taped that special years ago. I, too, may be confusing different specials, but IIRC, they all aired together as a lead-in to the premiere broadcast of Mickey's Christmas Carol. Actually, I think that the special included the cartoon that preceeds the movie "Who Framed of Roger Rabbit?" which may have been in the theaters at the time, but I may be confused again.

I think you're right. It's amazing the things that we remember fondly from childhood -- I wonder if my mom still has that VHS tape.

"Mickey's Christmas Carol" aired on "The Wonderful World of Disney" in December of 1988 and again in 1989. In prior years, they had other Christmas specials with clips from various features, shorts, and theme park footage. The 1982 episode, "A Disney Christmas Gift", was released on video, but I haven't seen it in ages.
Perhaps the best of the bunch listed, "Donald's Snow Fight" has not made it out on DVD yet. Hopefully we will see it by next year in a "Chronological Donald Volume Two" Disney Treasures set.

I have this special on tape. I used to watch it every year. It's in one of my boxes of VHS tapes. I'd dub it onto DVD for you but I don't have a VCR anymore.

My grandparents had this on VHS years ago. I know exactly what you're talking about and I've watched it dozens of times.
