I don't believe it... OK, I do believe it!!! STEVE'S FIRST SACDs!! And they're CCR!! Hoohah!! "Willy and the Poorboys" and "Cosmos Factory" and they're dual layer... redbook CD and (as it says on the home page) hi-rez SACD!! Steve says these discs "sound amazing!!"
Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray strike again.
WOW!!
Wow! Awesome! We sure have been waiting for this one!:D :D
Well Steve......Let's hear about them!
Did you finally solve the Hi-rez layer problem, if so how?
Are the cd layers better than the DCC gold cd's?;)
Congratulations Steve!:D

Would love to hear Sony's Dr. Demary and Steve discuss the technical issues and hard decisions the label had to make concerning what to include and what to exclude and if the new DSD mastering tools were used - could be a first in the industry, but perhaps the tools were not yet available. Big question, will Borders and other anti-SACD chains carry this hybrid release? Borders has never responded to my e-mail on this point.:D
I'd better start re-reading those SACD which-player-to-buy threads. At last, an undisputed, all encompasing reason that I *must* have a SACD player! :D

Dave,
I don't think there was ever a hi-rez layer problem. Steve had mentioned that the tonality of the CD layer was a problem, but I'm sure he came up with something.

Even though I have never heard a album by CCR I am really happy the world will finally see a Steve Hoffman SACD. I hope this will be the first of many.
I have had my SACD player for about four months now and I am only up to about 20 titles. And I find it really hard to find stuff I like. Maybe Steve will get a chance to do some Paul McCartney, or Queen, or Supertramp, or Van Halen, or ......

This is great news! Just what we've been waiting for. Looks like that JVC K2 set that I got a few months back are already surpassed.

Good call, Tullman! :)
Great news for you digital lovers. I mean it. Anything that improves on the original CD redbook format is welcome to my ears. Now will you digital lovers admit that there was something lacking sonically with the original cd format? Grant and Goldenboy, do you feel that SACD sounds better than its standard brother?
Will they have a multi-channel segment?

This could be a breakthrough in terms of format of choice. If Steve is pleased with the sound and finds the SACD format to be the best at bringing out what he hears, it would be hard to go back to redbood CD format, would it not? Something tells me that for the first time we will actually hear "Cosmos Factory"completely uninhibited and we will hear for the first time what the real deal is with SACD.

Hi Dave,
While I agree that we will probably hear things with this format that we haven't heard before the idea of hearing them "completely unihibited" may be a little strong. I gotta feeling the best chance of hearing them "completely unihibited" would be to be sitting directly beside Steve when he is playing back the master tape on his equipment of choice.

OK, Steve, come clean, what SACD hardware did you use to determine that the test "pressing" sounded OK. We want all the details. And please loan me the master reel to reel tape so that I can confirm that you got it right.
I better get my DVD/SACD player burned in before these are released!

Before I discovered this website two weeks ago, I had been saving to buy the CCR Boxset. Now I will not even pass go, my first SACD purchase has been preordained - I'll even have to buy a player - more money sigh......

Just wanted to weigh in and say I am looking forward to these with great anticipation. SACD is the perfect format to enjoy Steve's remasters, and I can't wait to feast my ears on these. I will be pre-ordering both from Acoustic Sounds, along with the wonderful OJC jazz titles remastered by Doug Sax for SACD, six of which are being released later this month.
Been waiting for this a couple years, and I'm confident it is all well worth the wait. SACD was worth supporting from the beginning, and now with the Stones and Creedence imminent, it's a no-brainer.
