So many albums I love fit this category that I haven't the foggiest where to begin. I will say that almost any great album sounds a whole lot better under such a state--even ones that you don't think would apply.

Hi,

Maybe I could name bands instead of lp's since almost all of their early lp's apply:

Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
Grateful Dead
Quicksilver Messenger Service

-Jeffrey

oh yea, Jimi Hendrix!

In total agreement with lennonfan on the Kraftwerk albums

my shortlist additions would be

Pink Floyd - Relics
Yes - Tales from Topographical Oceans
Rush 2112 - first side (depending on the type of mood)

All the best - Andrew

How about 'Calling Occupants Of Interplanetary Craft - Klattu' for a single song and a couple of good moody albums are 'Wish - The Cure', 'Dance Pieces - Phillip Glass' and 'Eastern Sounds - Yusef Lateef'.

Just about anything by Yusef Lateef!

Music that alters my state of mind with instant "Flashbacks" without the substances.
Country Joe and the Fish (Rock Coast Blues), Janis Joplin (most anything) Cab Calloway (Are You Hep To The Jive?), Wyonie Harris (Whiskey!)

Music is now my drug of choice.

Agreed, I really wish that they would get around to a decent remaster of 'Jazz Samba Encore!' if only for the cut O MORRO NAO TEM VEZ, which is my fav.

Honestly?
When my mood is 'altered' nothing sounds right , sorry.
I rarely turn on anything for those few occassions.
I need a couple glasses of wine or something every morning to acheive my daily 'unaltered' state.
Now all of my favorites (Karrin Allyson, Little Feat, Radiators, Ray Brown Trio, Rusted Root, etc..) of the time , are turned up and sound fabulous.
