View Full Version : April Wine
This is the same as the Rush poll (now) as you may vote for as many albums at once as you like.
Please let me know your opinions of these and if you've never heard of them before it's probably because you live in the U.S.A. or other parts of the globe and they didn't get the exposure that they truely deserve because they are a Canadian band.
Thanks all:)

You know, I vaguely remember April Wine, but don't think I've every heard any of their albums
In fact, the only song I remember by - I think - them, was something where they played both the riff from Daytripper and Satisfaction at the same time. Was that indeed them?

Nature Of The Beast, Harder-Faster and Animal Grace were some of the more popular titles to come over this part of the continent (Capitol/USA) if memory serves. I still have my vinyl copy of "Nature" And a Capitol LP "in store-Play" LP what includes a great song they did called "This Could Be The Right One" from Animal Grace. Wonderful stuff. I'm kinda glad that AW didn't get overplayed. "Sign Of The Gypsy Queen" was a top 20 single I believe, on the rock charts in the US. I think I was still in high school. Chicks dug AW, I remember that!
Yes oh great moderator that was indeed them.
The albums that I would recommend are Nature Of The Beast, The Whole World's Going Crazy and First Glance for the best possible variance of their talents.;)
Sckott is absolutely right in that AW is very appealing to women who like to dance.
Had to bring this one back up top before all those radical early morning posters from the East got started.:D

That was indeed them. I can't remember the song but I'll pull it tonight unless someone beats me to it. The big hit was Sign Of The Gypsy Queen, I Like To Rock got some airplay.
Wow - more classic Canadian stuff!
I picked up a very hard to find "Whole Worlds Going Crazy" and a few others. They were made in Canada, shipped to Mexico, back to Towers in Calif. and then back to Towers here in Canada. Picked them up when Towers had their closing sale (they pulled out of Canada). There were stickers all over those puppies! What a long strange trip..........
They are still around - based in Montreal and making short road trip excursions to places like Ontario, Newfoundland (The Rock), New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, etc.
And whaddya mean, Radical? We ese normal 'round here! ;)

I remember here in the Chicago/Milwaukee area they were pretty big in the Nature of the Beast/Power Play era. Gypsy Queen, Just Between You & Me and Enough is Enough got heavy rotation. Side one of NOTB is terrific rock ala Boston, Foreigner, etc.
Might have to pull out the vinyl & spin it tonight!

I have Nature of the Beast, but I've only heard a couple of their other songs. I did see them open for Loverboy in the 80's, so I'd want an overview of there music. What other albums should I look for?
Elton,
Howdy and welcome.
Any of the albums that the guys in the above posts recommend, including me, you most likely won't be disappointed with if you like NOTB. Enjoy;)
HZ,
The song with "Ticket To Ride" as well as "Satisfaction" is called I Like To Rock from the Harder Faster album.;)
