With all of the classic TV making it's way to DVD these days I was curious if anyone has heard anything about Gomer Pyle coming to DVD ? I love the Green Acres season 1 I picked up and now Andy Griffith is on the way , I was just curious about Pyle & Carter now .

Haven't heard anything, but given the great sales DVD box sets are having, one would expect it sooner or later....

...I'm banking on a GP DVD Box after the release of the Andy Griffith Show-Season One Box Set next month! Can't wait for that one, finally can get rid if those PD crappy releases!

DVD Box Sets of classic TV (and not so classic TV) are the "syndicated runs" of the modern day. Think about it.

They are....and the convenience is part of the fun: pick and choose, and they're always there if you get in the mood. Highly profitable for the studios, and good for us. The format, if nothing else, tends to force them to invest in good video and audio quality, and it's hard to ask for more than that.

It would be so cool to be able to load up 5 TV show DVDs and program them to play in random order.
Besides the Brady Bunch, Gomer Pyle USMC is also on my short list!

I have a favorite Gomer episode as well. I am not sure what season it was but it was the episode where gomer goes to a diner and has Welsh Rabbit for dinner and then has nightmares and sleepwalks. He goes over to Carter's Barracks and goes off on him. Then Carter decides to go to the same diner to find out what is up with Pyle and tries the Welsh Rabbit as well and it has the opposite effect on him. He becomes like Gomer and they meet up outside sleepwalking and Gomer tears into Carter.
That was my most hilarious memory of that show.

BTW, I wonder if we will see some of the more obscure 60's stuff. "Family Affair" with Buffy, Jodie, Sissy & Mr French and of course Uncle Bill. Some of these sets get a little expensive but the quality has been pretty decent on what I have bought so far.

Oh yes! that's another one on the want list...Who knows, with all the fuss about abuse Jay North had to say in his later years...this may never come out?

One of my favorites was where Gomer was on the payphone with Sgt. Carter. " Sgt. we found your car and there's not a scratch on it." Then the wrecking ball at the constructuion site fell on it.

Yeah, that's the one where Sgt. Carter sends him up to L.A. to pick up his car.

My pet peeve is that they are releasing the "World Series of Poker" on DVD :sigh: and we have to wait and wait for shows like Gomer Pyle! What a waste!!!
