It seems like just about every Paramount TV show from that era has been released on DVD, including the Partridge Family. Why hasn't the Brady Bunch? Even on VHS there were only a few episodes that came out, I think on 3 VHSs. Anyone know if there is a release in the works?

Isn't there still some kind of legal dispute with the Robert Reed estate? His image has been left off of pretty much every Brady tie-in product in recent years because of it. Perhaps to sell a Brady Bunch DVD set, they'd have to clear the image rights with his estate first, and that seems unlikely.

Has to be a legal issue, otherwise something like this would have been out long before now....

I have been anxiously awaiting the Brady Bunch on dvd, too. I didn't realize the Partridge Family had made it out yet, though, either. I know it was announced on some flyer I got in another dvd package, but I have never actually seen it for sale anywhere.

Funny, I SAW the Partridge Family box cover on amazon, and it was about to come out. I assumed it was out now but I see it's totally off the site. Maybe they pulled it?

Here's (
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=2316) a Brady Bunch news bit from a week back or so (skip down a few paragraphs).
Nothing really solid, but still some decent news for the series' fans.

Maybe the reruns on TV already have an exclusive arrangement?

Just checked the Paramount site and no word of any Brady Bunch anything on the upcoming releases. Or Partridge Family for that matter, despite the tvshowsondvd link. Sigh.

The tv show on dvd phenomina has only been gained momentum over the past year or so. If one thinks about how many shows are on dvd, it isn't really that many.

my response to this thread in my mind was, "yeah, and why no Batman series on DVD either?" seems like an obvious release, along the lines of the Brady Bunch.

Speaking of the Brady Bunch, I did listen to their Christmas album on CD and it is so bad, it's good. The sound quality of the CD is excellent.

Well, I was waiting and waiting on the Andy Griffith show, and it has started to finally come out. I'd say they stagger these things so they don't all come out at once, perhaps.

There's definitely a licensing problem with the Batman TV series. I've read that 20th Century Fox, which owns the TV series, is ready to release it on DVD, but they can't reach an agreement with Time/Warner, which owns character rights to Batman. When the right amount of money is coughed up (as usual, it's all about $$$) the series will be available.

I thought I was the only one who remembered that show!
Me, I'm waiting for all those great MTM Productions series: "The Mary Tyler Moore Show", "The Bob Newhart Show", "WKRP", "Hill Street Blues", "St. Elsewhere", etc. Except for Season 1 of "Mary" (which came out about four years ago), they're completely MIA on DVD.
And, for criminy's sake, where's "It's Garry Shandling's Show"?!!

Latest rumor on this is that Paramount Home Video will release season one in March 2005.
Barry Williams was on McEnroe last night and stated that the plan is to release seasons 1-3 in 2005 and seasons 4-6 in 2006.
