It seems that every show gets their own seasonal box set. Curiously missing is SNL seasons. Sure you can get the Dana Carvey box etc., but no complete seasons. Anyone know the reasoning behind this. Man would I love the first 3 seasons on DVD.

I would imagine it has something to do with rights. Not only for the musical performances, but also all the incidental music used throughout. These types of things weren't negotiated "back in the day."

The MAD TV box set has some musical performances. There's even one by the Rolling Stones. And another is the Presidents. The SNL disk with the Cheerleader skit on it even replaced the ToneLoc music (which was only about 20 seconds) with some lousy generic instrumental intended to sound something like ToneLoc. Haven't purchased any SNL disks since.
I think it's also a matter of cost. A season of SNL is, what, at least 30 hours? Plus any bonus material, you're talking a 10-disc set at least. And as noted, 25+ year old musical clearances may be impossible to get, making a "complete" season set unlikely.
Still, it's probably just a matter of time...

I jsut want a "New Wave" compilation with Devo, Talking Heads, b52s, Blondie, etc.
Or just a Devo one :)
(And a Devo on Friday's Set also.)

I'd like to see the original De-Evolution on dvd, and with good sound.
