The HDCD ones sound great but I'd be curious to hear at least one title on DVD-A for comparrison.

I would think "SURF"S UP" would be a natural for 5.1 since it originally existed in Quad.

It's not a DVD-A but the the Endless Harmony DVD has 7 tracks mix in 5.1 surround with accompying video/still footage.
California Girls, Kiss Me Baby, God Only Knows, Surf's Up, Long Promised Road, Sail On Sailor, & Do It Again (live).
My favorite is LPR which has some cool footage of Carl walking around London in the late 60's.
Yes there is actually-Pet Sounds is supposed to come out on DVD-A about Christmas
According to a recent post by Mark Linnett at the Brian Wilson site, Surf's Up is also being prepared for 5.1. I never saw the great attraction in that album- to me, it was a BIG letdown from Sunflower, with a few classic tracks (Feel Flows, Til I Die, Long Promised Road, Disney Girls and, of course, Surf's Up) and many dogs (Take A Load Off Your Feet, Pete- jeez).
Hopefully, Sunflower is not behind; since it was mixed for pseudo-multchannel from the outset (I recall an insert in the initial pressings that instructed how to wire a rear speaker with the two stereo hot leads and, damn if it didn't work!), Sunflower is a natural for 5.1
