Buddy Rich and George Lewis

Have been enjoying The Best Band I Ever Had (Buddy Rich) and Hot Creole Jazz -1953 (George Lewis & His Ragtime Band). All Music Guide says that the Buddy Rich was originally a direct -to-disc recording. Can I assume they also ran tape simultaneously? Very LIVE sounding and really full of energy!

Can you shed any light on George Lewis (had never heard of him until I ran across your DCC)?

I'd never heard of George Lewis either. But, the tapes sounded great, so....

The Buddy Rich had a tape backup, yes.
