I was sitting in my office today listening to Steve's Highway 61 when my secretary came in, stared at my speakers and said "Why do you listen to that crap?"

Mmm.........perhaps she prefers the standard aluminium release.

Did you ask her if she'd ever heard the rare Dylan track "Pink Slip Blues?";)

Cheers,

Yes I know!

No I didn't, but she did say "It's not boppy enough".

I think I responded with something like "Well some people actually like to LISTEN to music and not just dance to it!"

(I always get terribly defensive when someone criticises "my" music and usually say something which isn't particularly well-conceived or coherent!)

In her defence she has no real interest in music and is very young.

Well, it's ok for your secretary to not care old Zimmy even if she's young or doesn't like music much; I'm 39 and I don't care much for him either! :p I'm evolving into one of those crabby guys who think the Beatles and Dylan are Satan in my particular Garden of Musical Eden - gimme some moaxes who can barely put together 2 chords and bash out an almost steady beat howlin' bout gettin' no lovin' and I'm in muzak heaven!!!

I don't know how many women have walked into my humble home and said "look at all these CD's!" only to say a few moments later "why don't you like anything that anyone else likes?"

For the last 6 months its been great to be able to tell them that I amplify my favorite tunes with a vacuum tube that was designed 35 years before I was born.

Don't know whats going to happen if I go back to vinyl.
