Watched the 2 hour season opener of Law & Order. For me the jury is out on Dennis Farina. I've never been a big fan of this character actor. Law & Order for me is still one of the best dramas on TV, so I will stick with it. Hopefully the Detective Joe Fontana character will grow on me.

My older brother said he enjoyed both episodes and thinks Farina fits right in.

I also caught the Law & Order season premier. Dennis Farina fits like a pair of comfortable old shoes. A perfect replacment for Jerry Orbach. His character "Det. Fontana." must have a hell of a back story. Snappy dresser and a closet intellectual and somewhat mysterious. Dennis Farina, while around for years, really caught my attention in his not to be missed performance in "Get Shorty".

Can't say I've ever watched this show, but have admired Dennis Farina's work elsewhere.

I really like Dennis Farina's character. As much as I love Jerry Orbach, Lenny was getting too cute and lovable for me. The Fontana charachter is reminding me of Det. Greevy (George Dzundza from season1). I like that he'll blatantly lie to a witness, or try to connect in a less-than-truthful fashion.

Originally, I was hoping they'd put a woman cop in there. If Elisabeth Rohm (Southerland) left at the same time, it would have been perfect timing. We haven't had a male ADA since Robinette, and they could have balanced that with a female detective (maybe Olivia Benton could have been transferred over from SVU).
