I have used Audioquest laser guide solution. The stuff works on skipping cds.

The laser guide stuffs kinda reminds me of what you have here. It must smooth the surface if it repairs skipping cds. I am just paranoid about messing with cd surfaces in general. Some of my cds are expensive. I only use the stuff when there is a problem.
