will this DVD be available in stores? Is there a reason to pre-order it thru the Dead site for $29.99?

It should definitely be available to retailers, just like the Closing of Winterland DVD. Whether or not the 5 CD soundtrack will be available, I don't know (probably.) The boxed set will also be available ... the only thing you won't get in stores is the bonus stuff. The film thingie for the DVD and the bonus CD for the boxed set.

I ordered one of those cool GD Movie T-shirts too for my 17 year old - a must for a blossoming Deadhead. Maybe I'll wear it too?

Regarding the 5 CD set - If you never heard it before, you guys are going to love that segment from 10/17/74. I taped it off the Grateful Dead Hour a few years ago and it's one of my all time favorites, and definitely my favorite of that Winterland run. Fantastic jam out of He's Gone in to the Other One into Stella Blue. There was also a great Scarlet Begonias from that set. The whole set is stunning!
