What currently is the best version of this album? I have the first CD version of it on the "Rolling Stones Records" label. How does this compare with the original lp, the Virgin re-masters, and the EMI Vinyl reissue? Are there others?

thanks

Original American LP is the best...

I don't know about that. I have a Japanese pressing that is just fabulous. I purchased the U.S. version the day it came out and I'm more pleased with the Japanese one. I haven't heard the EMI version, but stay far clear of the Virgin remastered one pressed by RTI, just awful.

On CD, the Virgin remaster is better than the CBS. Big drop-out in Sweet Virginia in the latter.

I have 'Exile', 'Some Girls' and 'Black And Blue', all Virgin remasters. I really like the sound on the these remasters. Does anyone have other; how's the sound?

I have most, if not all, of the remaster CDs and I like them all. However, the Tattoo You has a different version of one of the songs ( I can't remember which), which to me means I have to keep both copies.

I don't have that one, but I believe Slave has a much longer fade-out.

Sticky Fingers also sounds quite good (although not audiophile quality). Great tracks including Brown Sugar, Wild Horses, Bitch and more. Now if someone will only fix the London/Abkco cd's.
