I was watching bits and pieces of the salute to our armed forces on CBS. I noticed Marc Anthony brought his band. Celine Dion was singing with a recording. I realize that the performers were probably donating their time, but Celine Dion is a multi millionaire. She could have hired her band. Why not give the guys in the band their props. Hey it would have been an honor for them to play on national tv. I think singing with a recording is bush league. It is an insult to performing musicians. C'mon Celine and CBS you guys are making money hand over fist. Share the wealth with the performing musicians, these people have studied hard to be able to play their instruments.
Kudos to Marc Anthony!

Tullman,
Excuse me if I'm out of line here, but as I see it the problem is not with Celine Dion's actions, but yours. Why on earth are you watching this woman? Loads of technique, but no real emotion. Which probably, then, explains her excluding the performing musicians.
Going back to the technique-emotion point, I nearly fell out of my chair a few years ago when I read in an interview that Janis Joplin was Dion's favorite (or one of her favorite) singers. The two could not be more dissimilar. Guess you can tell by now I'm not a Celine fan!

Hi Tony, and welcome to the forum.

In general we like to disuade forum members from putting down other people's choices in music or preference for any given artist.
Simply put, it just makes for a more friendly environment if we all try and respect each other's tastes.
Thanks,
HZ

Sorry, Holy Zoo. I meant no disrespect to Tullman.
He was probably watching for the same reason I made a point to watch Jennifer Lopez sing live on Oprah. Did you miss it? :D It was second only to Mila Jovovich on that Carson Daly show. If anyone has a tape of that, I have tons of rarities to trade. I haven't seen anything that bizarre in a loooong time.

Mike,
Jennifer Lopez sings?
Actually, that's something a friend says all the time. He'll bring up how hot Lopez looks, for example, and I'll say, "Yeah, but she's not much of a singer or actress," to which he'll reply, "She sings and acts?"

Do you have a wife or girlfriend?? If so, you will know why I was watching Celine Dion. :D I did like her rendition of God Bless America. Jennifer Lopez isn't even half as good a singer as Celine Dion, but is a major world class muchacha caliente.

As a Canuck, I am truly qualified to give a deep insight into Celine Dion's ability as a singer.
She shatters igloos......
