View Full Version : Just in - Japanese Uriah Heep Remasters
Got them right in front of me, still sealed. They did use the "original" (European) cover art for Very 'Eavy and Salisbury (the spiderweb guy and the tank, respectively).
All three (those two and The Magician's Birthday) are JVC/Victor (VICP 61828, 29 and 30). These mini-LP editions come with the bonus tracks, as available on Castle/Sanctuary remasters. Should be a different remastering job though, as the obi's say "Digital K2" and "digitally remastered in 2002".
Hope to have fun for the next few days comparing them to the Bronze and Island LPs:)
Sooo, how much and where can us N. American types get them?
SVL, please report back with your findings, hope they're good! Enjoy.;)
These were expensive:( - paid $25 ea. here. Eventually the price should probably drop slightly, and then become even steeper, because people will start selling them as "out-of-print" :D.
HMV/Japan (
http://www.hmv.co.jp/etc/lang.asp?lang=en&target=/en/index.asp) should have them.
Got a bunch of new CDs here, so I am really torn between the UH remasters and Steve's Everly Bros. Best:).
You never can tell with the "OOP" stuff - depends on good ol' supply and demand.
For example, there are still some MFSL titles that can be had for less than retail, because there wasn't enough demand for the amount manufactured.
The UH remasters have already been available in jewel case form and in UK mini-LP form (though the mini-LPs didn't all have the bonus tracks) - are there enough UH fans that have passed on those and are willing to pay up for the Japan versions? We'll see.

SVL, Do you have any of the recent castle record releases to compare them to? I would be interested to hear your opinion.
I do have Salisbury and The Magician's Birthday on Castle remastered CDs (not Castle mini-LP versions), and of course I will ty to compare them to the Japanese discs.
I don't have any Castle reissues on 180 g LPs.
