How does this one compare with the original Asylum copy?
-Or- Buy the Gold on Monday... and the DVD-A is announced on Tuesday! Just kidding, is the gold worth a purchase?

This was the first DCC Gold CD I purchased (1995) - and is in my opinion the best. Steve did a great job on this one. The difference was immediately apparent from the opening David Lindley solo in the left channel. The is the one to own. I quickly gave away my original CD (kept the album- but never play it). I even bought the remaster (97?? - the one with the sticker on it that said it was remastered) which sounded better than the original CD, but nowhere near the DCC - I gave that away too.

Kayaker:
Looks like this will be my first as well. Might as well make your first one a good one :D.
Thanks for the info.

JohnT....
I have lots of DCC 180gm Virgin Vinyls... And just as many or more DCC Gold CD's... I can tell you that I have never gone wrong choosing a "Hoffmanized" over any other version out there.
Every time I do a comparison test, I still go "OH MY GAWD!! How could anyone buy something that sounded so crappy?" Then, I remember... :( just like I did before I discovered QUALITY mastering!
Now, I just look for *HIS name on the back. If it's there. I know it's going to be good.
*HIS = Steve Hoffman :D :D

Yes,
I found a still sealed copy of Late For The Sky on Cduniverse. Warm, excellent sound. Never regretted owning anything Steve does!
If it's Hoffmanized...it's got to be good!!
:D
