This was just released on Blue Note. Haven't heard any of it via soundbits or anything but it must be a killer album!

Duke Ellington 1969: All-Star White House Tribute

"— previously unissued 28-track collection that celebrated Duke's 70th birthday. At the gala, he was awarded the Medal of Freedom by President Nixon and played with 16 jazz greats, including Dave Brubeck, Paul Desmond, Milt Hinton, Clark Terry, Earl Hines and Joe Williams."

Alex,

Let me be perfectly clear:

As long as Nixon did not sing or rap on the set, it should be very enjoyable.

I had a chance to hear Clark Terry play at the Blue Note club in NYC a bit over a year ago, in a band with James Moody and others. I sat in the first line directly at the stage, and I had a really good time. Terry seems to be a really nice person. I found it amazing to meet an actual member of the historic Ellington Big Band in person.

Haven't got it yet...has anyone else picked it up?

You know if it's Duke, it's got to be good!

I was looking forward to picking this up. I had even read some advanced reviews. The original release date was supposed to be 5/21 but looks like it's been bumped to later this year, possibly fall.:(
