Hi all,
Any opinions of the Rush remasters from a few years back? I am looking to upgrade my original cd releases. I do have the three MFSL CD's and they sound great.

Look for Drew, GammaSpace, and Kevin's reviews on the first page, and Dave adds some more on the second page.
Hi Matt,
Welcome to the forum. I'm sort of an old dog around here and maybe I can help you with your question.
Stick with the MFSL Rush's, the re-masters are good and alot better than the initial realeases, but the MFSL's are slightly better.;)

Let me add my two cents worth, I don't have any mofi Rush, all I had were the original cd's which I've replaced with the remasters, I have from Fly by night through Hold your fire and I think Bob Ludwig did a good job in general with these, one think to keep in mind is that Ludwig is mastering for big labels and may not have the time to remaster things the way Steve Hoffman or anyone working for a smaller custom label would.

Nothing personal as far as the remasters are concerned, but for whatever reasons it either sounds good or it doesn't.
I have all 3 MoFI Rush, they are about the best you can find on CD. Now for the rest, i can't say but on Hold Your Fire. The original CD (and vinyl for as well), was thin and bright sounding. The reissue has a much warmer sound and killer bass. A warmer sound was much welcomed on this cd, but warmer may not be the best thing for Rush, just something that will depend on your taste in Rush. The MoFis, definatly have it down great. The dynamics are better as is the bass. The higher frequencys are not brittle but alive. Tell you all what, I am going relisten to LP's and cd's and hear what is different!
