I recently read a short piece on the ICE web site about The Who Sing My Generation finally being reissued. I've been trying to find an early Decca pressing of this LP for ever. Does anyone know who will be doing the re-mastering duties? Any chance they won't screw this one up?

Probably not much of a chance... How many have they NOT screwed up in the past?

:(

Actually, there *is* a good chance it will be done right. Jon Astley will not be touching anything. Nor will Pete.

Shel Talmy (the original producer of the sessions) will be remixing his original 3-track master tapes. Thus, the new release will be stereo - most tracks will be in stereo for the first time.

It's not yet known who will be doing the remastering, but it will be supervised by Talmy (I don't believe he will be doing the actual work).

Gee Luke that sounds very promising, perhaps we won't be bludgeoned with the "Breath of death" this time.

That would be nice for a change.:D

Any hope in Halifax that there might be tube mastering on this one?

I know this is not news, but have a look at
http://www.sheltalmy.com
for the full story. Sounds very hopeful, particularly the bit about low hiss - Forget NoNoise YES!!
