I have bought the DVD-A of "Buena Vista Social Club" twice and each time there was no music at all on the disc. Has anyone else had this problem?

I don't have the DVD-A, but I know people, who played it just fine;)

I would make sure that the player recognizes the disc as DVD-A, and that there is an analog connection from the player to the amp/receiver.

What is your set-up, i.e., DVD-A player, amp, etc. - maybe that can help people determine what your problem might be. And how do you have everything set-up?

I have the "Buena Vista Social Club" DVD-A and it plays just fine. Are you attempting to play this in stereo or surround? I know the surround mix does not have any center channel, but that shouldn't cause you to get no sound at all.

This is very curious.

I have a pretty good collection of DVD-audio at this point and all play just fine and dandy. This is the only DVD-audio that I have had this problem with. If there were a problem with connections between the DVD-audio player and the receiver, all of the other DVDs-audio wouldn't play. That's all I know.

Two ideas:

1) Does it play on other DVD players? Does it play at the store?

2) Is this one "watermarked" or copy protected somehow?

I wonder..........

Does the player recognize the disc, or start playing it at all (is the counter running)? Have you tried to directly access separate tracks?

DVD players can act funny with certain discs - saw it many times with DVD-Video.

I no longer have either disc to test them. When I did place them in the DVD-A player, the disc would spin, the player recognized the DVD-A by the light that goes on, but nothing came out. And this happened for the two copies I had. I just think there was a bad series that arrived in my part of the country.
