Need help with Springsteen Japan (and maybe UK) remasters

I've come across some Springsteen reissues from Japan and one from the UK, and I'm hoping someone here can give me some help. These are on the internet, so I can't give them a listen or a closer look.

First, with the Japanese releases, I found a handful of reissues in Japan.

release date for all:
August 21, 1999

Wild, Innocent, & E Street Shuffle SRCS 9467
Darkness on the Edge of Town SRCS 9468
The River SRCS 9469
Nebraska SRCS 9471

I got some information from a fan site that these are supposedly remastered, originally packaged in
cardboard cases before becoming jewel cases.

Second, I came across this UK release

release date July 17, 2000
Born in the USA catalog number 86304

no information on this being remastered or not, but it is a CD (there was also a minidisc of the album released recently in the UK, but I don't think I've mistaken this CD for that).

Can anyone confirm the Japanese issues as remasters, and does anyone know if the Born in the USA CD is a remaster? Does anyone know how they sound?

Thanks for any help. I once e-mailed Bob Ludwig about remastering Springsteen, since he's been the only one to do any since the first CD issues (he did the Mastersound for Born to Run, the Greatest Hits which was remastered, and the Tracks related issues), and he said he has, at one point or another, remastered the entire Springsteen catalog for CD issue. I'm wondering if these are part of that.

Hearsay: I have not heard them myself - but I remember the consensus all over the 'net was there was not sonic improvement on these issues. Collect them for the art - the sonics were no better or worse than commercially available internationally.

I was fortunate enough to get a few of the Japanese reissues with cardboard covers when they first came out: Darkness, The River, Wild, Innocent and Nebraska. The packaging is pretty nice but, notwithstanding the raves at the time, the sonics are no great improvement. I sure would like to hear Tunnel of Love given the Breath. Someday!
