Just picked up a copy of Neil's new album on vinyl. It's a 2LP set with a sticker on the cover that says Analog Recorded, Mixed and Mastered. Anybody see him on Leno last week? It the end Leno holds up the new CD and say "Are You Passionate now out on CD" and you hear Neil in the background say "and Vinyl" so Leno goes "and Vinyl". The man is definitely COOL!

Just got done listening to "Harvest" on your average American Reprise LP. There's Soooo much sonic godness the Cd can't touch on his "Harvest" LP. No lie!

Not quite on-topic, but I purchased the "Harvest" CD upon its initial release in 1987, and I've always felt that it's one of the best-sounding non-audiophile CDs I've heard. Other opinions?

I just pulled out On The Beach and I was amazed at the sonics! Very clean (no pops, clicks, needle noise) - just amazing!

Dreamcatcher I've not heard that CD in ages..... :( I am getting back into the NY mood, real fast! :)

It took me 12 years to actually find a mint 2 tone pressing on that one, but definitely worth it.

Oh, isn't that the truth! I knew this long ago, long before Tom Port was kind enough to point out which pressing stood out as exceptional. I checked my copy, and it's the one he referred to.

For all of you who want to find the "killer" copy, look carefully in the dead wax of early flexible vinyl pressings for the initials "LH" - not always easy to spot. Apparently, these initials are those of a "Leo Hulka" who Humorem praised up & down. Listen to this version of Harvest, you'll know exactly why. Find one in decent shape (there are MANY out there, just be patient). Then you'll hear exactly what Sckott is talking about. Heaven on earth!

I just looked at my original MS 2032 pressing, and alas, no LH.
Where exactly in the dead area is it?

Bummer.....but it still sounds good!

Hi Jon,

You might have to look really closely directly under a lamp or reflector. The dead wax on mine reads "STERLING" and directly to the right are his initials, very very faint. This is true on both sides 1 & 2.

I wouldn't be disappointed though, 'cause I'm in no position to claim this is the only good version of Harvest out there. But it's amazing!
