I was listening to the Classics reissue of Carol King's Tapestry last night. It soundee very dull. So for kicks I put on my original US pressing. They are common, easy to find and inexpensive. It killed the Classics reissue. From the lower midrange on up it was far more open extended dynamic and life like. No VTA adjustment could cure the Classics reissue. The Classics reissue was slightly better in the bass and lower midrange with a bit more tightness and control but it was nothing compared to the differences from that point on up. I wonder what an original Brittish pressing would sound like.

Sundazed's staff did the SACD stereo remaster and it sounds very fine indeed.
Scott,
Just wanted to throw in a comment about Tapestry cd on Mastersound. It's another one in the gold cd series that Sony got right.;) The best cd version hands down!

Is your Classics lp the 33 rpm or the 45?
I have the 4 lp set of 12" 45 rpm, one side only pressings, and find them pretty amazing. i have not actually compared them to an original 33.

Is that like an acoustic guitarist selling out and getting an electric guitar?

LOL no it's a dollars and cents issue. It costs twice as much to persue excellence in both formats. So with my 2000 records I have put all the available funds in the turntable. Also its hard enough keeping track of which vinyl preesings are best. When I see the postings regarding all the different masterings on CDs my head starts to ache.

I understand. I consider the cd as necessary evil, only when the lp does not exist... also when I am really lazy, entertaining, or a bit too hammered.
