Hi Steve, I was wondering if you used different equipment for the gold version and the vinyl version, because the vinyl version has more impact in the drums and it just seems more upfront......I think its definitely better than the gold. The gold version's great though......It definitely beats the current remastered version...

Wes, same tape, same everything. The tonality of the DCC CD and DCC LP should match pretty well.

Let me suggest that your phono stage or cart (or CD player) is not exactly neutral.

Do all your LP's sound more forward than your CD counterparts?

Probably..............I have others that I've compared, like uh Jethro Tull, "Aqualung", Joni Mitchell, "Court and Spark"........but the most dramatic comparison is "Strange Days", for some reason..................I'll tell ya what my set up is............Rega Planar 3 Elyss cartridge/ Phonomena phono stage.............Digital/Theta Miles cd player......

I don't know which one is more neutral than the other......The analog setup is more lush.......

I just noticed that the drums seem do go deeper and have more impact on "Strange Days."

It must be a coloration then.............I like it..........

As long as you're a happy camper.

LP's have that "illusion of life" that just can't be beat. Things just sound more "real".

Wes, this is a comparison that I'm going to have to tackle, now that i have both DCC formats, and its not going to be easy. I just got done listening to side one of CCR's"BAYOU COUNTRY" on Ap Lp and DCC CD(I will post results on another thread). Right now, I'm still scratching my head because the differences are basically medium and equipment differences, as the basic tonalit is the same, but you hear different detail on each medium.

Yeah, tell me what you hear.........I always thought the vinyl version just blows the gold counterpart outa the water.........But like Steve says......It's probably a coloration in the equipment.............

I wish I had the CD version to compare with. I have the LP. The timing wasn't right for me on buying these at the time. A company I was with during that time was going down the porcelain. I had to budget my music spending. I thought the CDs would be around forever and the LPs would be extremely limited. I chose the DCC LPs over the CD counterparts in the DCC catalog.

Just another shameless beg (with a factual basis though) to re-issue some of the DCC gold disks.

Well, be happy with the LP..........It's as good as you'll ever hear it....

The LP is very nice, but it cannot be played in the car.
