Steve had mentioned that in the middle of 1968, EMI got their new Neumann Solid State cutting lathes.
I think ALL the Beatles' albums were recorded via valves, but I could be wrong. I bet Luke would know!

Every Beatles Lp at Abbey Road was recorded on the EMI Tube consoles. I think it wasnt until 1971 that EMI put in the first generation of solid state consoles.
I also think that the Tube BTR 2 mixdown decks were used until the 1970s as well.
Luke will know for sure, but this is what I always understood.
And while we are on the subject.........the RIGHT way to remaster the Beatles catalog is on tube playback equipment with the original specs of the EMI gear.
There are collectors who have WORKING units of both the tube console the Beatles used and the BTRs. EMI should spend some cash, buy them, recondition them and master every single Beatles tape using them. Bot I'd love to hear that result.
Maybe, "Please Please Me": would sound the way its supposed to, like it does on the 1970s reissue 45.
