Not cheap, but heck there'll never be another one!

I'm definitely going to order that one.No matter what the cost.
That's amazing!
I never thought we'd see a DVD from Gentle Giant! Fantastic!
I even saw (and bought) the Rick Wakeman DVD of "Journey To The Centre Of The Earth" originally recorded in Australia. I bought that in a flash, too! I had missed the original tour.
And, of course, I have never seen GG in concert!

Peter,
Thanks for the update. I've known about this DVD for a long time now, and have only been waiting for the Gentle Giant site to have it ready for sale. Yes, it is expensive, but considering that this is the only Gentle Giant DVD ever released, it is certainly worth the cost to me. Also, I feel good about ordering it directly from the band.

Me too Ed!
I remember when I bought Under Construction the customs declaration on the envelope was signed by Kerry Minnear. I still have it!

Miike.
"The DVD is NTSC format and plays in all regions." This quote is directly from the Gentle Giant website.

Actually when the webpage was first up it didn't mention the format, nor did it mention the bonus audio CD.
That info was added a day later.
(I ordered mine on the first day so maybe I don't get the bonus CD! ;) )

Once someone gets a copy....could they post a review here.....I'm on the fence on this one. I concerned with sound quality....if its in glorious Dolby Digital/DTS 5.1, I'd be more inclined to spend my hard earned money.
thanks!

That's interesting. I'm buying this purely and simply for the visuals (having never seen GG live). If I want sound quality I can listen to the CDs!

I agree with Peter about this DVD. I'm just thrilled that I can see the band in a live setting, since I've also never seen them live before.

I'm not a big fan but if the DVD is the complete package....sound and visuals....then it will be a must purchase.

Just noticed a debit on my credit card statement by "ALUCARD PUBLISHING".
Cool!

DVD arrived today complete with a little GG face label on the envelope!
In summary:
For serious fans this is absolutely essential! The only GG footage we're ever likely to see.
Casual fans however could be disappointed. Both audio and video are pretty average.
Kerry Minnear's new menu music (only around a minute) is beautiful and as to be expected of much higher fidelity than the archival material.
The packaging generally is very nice. I haven't listened to the audio CD yet.
Overall I'm very pleased.

Peter,
Thanks for the update. I ordered my copy immediately after viewing this thread that you started, so hopefully, I'll be getting my copy in the very near future.

Ed, the virtuosity on display is startling. Kerry, Ray and John in particular.
Watching John drum is the most fun I've had watching a drummer since I watched B J Wilson on the Musikladen Procol Harum DVD!
Kerry is also incredible, but I think you already know that!

yes, thank you for the review.
Just got mine today as well. I was just going to sample it for now, but watched the whole thing, being transported back to the seventies with my memories of 4 GG gigs in Boston. Believe me, this DVD is a treasure! The new music by Kerry is good enough and GG-enough to ask why he couldn't do a solo album right now. I would buy it in a minute!

Wow, just ordered the DVD. Met the group backstage in San Diego in 75, doing sound, and was shocked to find out they were just barely making a living.
And yes that BJ drumming on MusicLaden was great. So fluid.
