View Full Version : "Good To See You, Alice Cooper"
Just read in the British magazine Classic Rock that Rhino is planning a DVD release of the unreleased film Good To See You Again, Alice Cooper.
This film is a chronicle of Alice's 1973 Billion Dollar Babies tour, done in a weird avant-garde way, intercut with black-and-white footage from old movies and a faux-homage to old movie musicals featuring the original Cooper band in white tie and tails.'
It's been available as a VHS bootleg for years, so hopefully this will be released stateside and get a quality presentation. A DTS surround track would be nice, but I won't hold my breath for it.

I'd definitely buy this one.
After posting, I went to my Alice Cooper reference book and realized that the film was given an extremely limited release and may have been shown at drive-ins. Still, it's largely unknown to the public-at-large, so in a sense it qualifies as "unreleased."
I just hope it does get a proper DVD release here.

If it is from Rhino, it will get a release here. I have a bootleg copy, I think its fine as a live document of that original band.
Some of the live soundtrack is on the deluxe edition of Billion Dollar Babies, and it sounds great.

Speaking of Alice Cooper on video, how difficult is it to find The Strange Case of Alice Cooper? I've only seen it once long, long ago.

I've never seen it, but I have read about it. There was an excellent book issued five years ago titled The Illustrated Collector's Guide To Alice Cooper written by Dale Sherman. It's a comprehensive look (prior to the release of the box set) at Alice's videos, 8-tracks, CDs, Quadraphonic LPs, etc. The author did his research and gives full reports and analyses on the history of these items.
Maybe Rhino will get the rights to this one as well sometime and there'll be a complete Alice Cooper video catalogue.
Let us also not forget [I]The Nightmare[I] TV special from 1975, only issued on VHS once back in the '80s...
I myself have never seen it, but if you don't want to blind buy it, it is available on Netflix. They show it is in stereo only. It will be released on 6/22/04.

I had forgotten about this video! Wasn't this the one filmed during his "From The Inside" tour? My best friend in high school had this on VHS... I loved it back then. I'm not sure what I'd think now.
If it's Alice, though, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Even with its horrible sound quality and similarly bad video quality, the DVD "Welcome To My Nightmare" is easily worth the cost JUST for Alice's hilarious commentary! That is one DVD I actually prefer to watch with the commentary track ON!

Now that you mention it, I believe it was. Now I've got to get my hands on this!

I did not realize it was "rare". Or at least not available. :)
I'd buy any and all Alice on DVD, too....
I think I have a copy of "Good To See You Again", too. Is that where they destroy the set with a bulldozer....? :D

Yes it is. Just watched a little of my bootleg VHS so that when I see the DVD I can marvel over the better quality. I hope there's maybe an interview on there and/or a commentary track like on the Welcome To My Nightmare DVD from a few years back. :)
So, has anybody picked this up yet? I checked my queue on Netflix, and it's in the "Very Long Wait" status. I'm not sure if it is good enough for a blind buy? Any recommendations?
