As I mentioned before, I'm still new to all of this surround stuff so forgive me if I sound ignorant. While browsing DVD players today, I noticed that about half of them list "DTS Digital Out" on the front front panel - now I would assume that this means you take this "DTS digital out" into a "DTS digital in" on a surround sound reciever and this would decode the DTS CD to play in 5:1 surround. Is this correct? I'll get a handle on this eventually...

Maybe this belongs in the hardware forum....

You are correct, but....
A DVD player with dts digital output mearly sends a signal to a decoder. Make sure that the receiver/DAC that the digtal output is going to can decode the signal. There is no independant "dts in". If your receiver/DAC can handle multiple coversions (dts, Dolby Digital 5.1, 96/24 PCM, or better), then a single digital connection will decode them all. Point of interest - most CD players with digital outputs will be able to play (with the proper decoder) DAD's (96/24 PCM or better), and dts CD's. They will NOT read DVD-A's, even if a PCM or dts track is available on the disc.
