OK can't resist it any more...
Time for a SH Forum's Top 10 albums Poll.
Name your Top 10 (only 10 please) of all time with the following criteria:
- As usual this will be a snapshot...choices change all the time.
- These will be albums you REALLY love (not just critics best of lists..although most of those will probably be up for inclusion)
- Better still if you love every track on the album and, a real nice to have, great sound quality/mastering to boot.
- Compilations, soundtracks and best of's can be included, but proper albums preferred.
I'm going off to think about mine and will post later!
:)

All,
As some of you already know, I am not an album collector per se. I tend to buy albums for certain song content and then record my own compilations by format (Oldies, 70's, 80's, Dance Music, Album Tracks, Jazz, etc.). However, I have my personal favorites. My choices are based on two prominent criteria: the music, of course, and sound quality--either because of the original recording or the mastering. These are albums I can listen to in their entirety, over and over again. This list is by no means evidence of the breadth of my musical tastes.
1) Time Out--Dave Brubeck
2) Kind of Blue--Miles Davis
3) 24K Hits--Elvis Presley (best EP comp out there)
4) Rubber Soul--Beatles
5) Revolver--Beatles
6) Soultrain--John Coltrane
7) Abbey Road--Beatles
8) Art Pepper + 11--Art Pepper
9) Some Girls--Rolling Stones
10) Beatles For Sale--Beatles
Bob :)

My listening is mainly compilations, hits from albums I don't have on compilations or songs I haven't heard a while or the radio. I mostly collect but as far as albums are concerned, these are my recommendations:
Amazing Rhythm Aces-Stacked Deck and Too Stuffed To Jump albums
Urban Cowboy soundtrack
Grease soundtrack
B.W. Stevenson-Very Best Of... Collectables CD or the My Maria vinyl album on RCA (same album except the CD has bonus tracks. I have the CD.)
the Riders In The Sky catalog (don't settle for their Best of The West CD's, go for their catalog). If you haven't heard of Riders In The Sky or if you are a fan of their music and comedy, go to their website at www.ridersinthesky.com as it is "The Cowboy Way."
All righty then. In no particular order.
Doucette: Mamma Let Him Play
Def Leppard: Hysteria (sadly needs better mastering)
Pink Floyd: Dark Side Of The Moon
Pink Floyd: Wish You Were Here
Rush: Grace Under Pressure
Chilliwack: Greatest Hits (nice flat transfer)
ZZ Top: The Best Of ZZ Top (the only flat transfer of any of ZZ Tops songs on cd)
Robert Cray: Strong Persuader
Eric Clapton: Journeyman (I sure wish that there was a better cd version of this one)
Black Sabbath: Paranoid (Hey! Are you followin' me?:D )
1. Pet Sounds - Beach Boys
2. Abbey Road - Beatles

6. Saturate Before Using - Jackson Brown

Grant,
Thanks! I probably have all the titles in the box set as well but I was just looking for a possible review of the sound. By the way, how is the sound on the Have A Nice Day series Vol. 25-28?
