you know what they say it never rain it pours, well finally i have an original beatles UK pressing and i didn't just find one but two. got "Abbey Rd" and "Yellow submarine" (also original queen - news of the world but i'm sure that isn't as exciting to some). in south africa coming accross such finds is very difficult so i am extremely happy, the cost was $15 and they are in excellent condition.
first of all the sound is excellent, rich and smooth like great wine, beats the pants off the CD, i actually have a dutch pressing of abbey rd which i quite liked and will have to do a head to head. but it is especially exciting to listen to the bass playing i don't know how other people are but sometimes when i listen to music i lock into one musician and really listen to what he is doing to the exclusion of the others. i will have to make a few more spins of the albums before i can comment more on my impressions.
thanks to everyone who continually encourages people to find original pressings of various artists it has improved my collection immesurably.
