That's right, CARNIVAL OF SOULS; everyone's PD favorite.

We are acquiring the original music tracks.. I always liked that weird music from the movie. Anyone think it would make a good cheapie soundtrack CD? Some of it is even in true stereo!

Carnival of Souls soundtrack is on CD already. I'd buy one mastered by SH though.

(Just a crappy dub from the VHS movie soundtrack---SH)

Get either the Criterion Collection DVD or if you are on a budget, get the Diamond Entertainment twofer DVD of this movie with Horror Hotel.

That's one of my favorite movies, both campy and creepy!

I am a fan of this movie and I have the Diamond Entertainment DVD of it that uses Herk Harvey's authorized MPI VHS transfer print of it which is probably the source used for the Criterion DVD of this movie.

An Amazon review of the current CD about the mastering: This CD, supposedly Gene Moore's score from the classic film soundtrack, is actually nothing more than a cheaply produced recording of the mixed film soundtrack, with dialogue, footsteps, noises, etc. along with the music. If you think - as I did - that you'll be able to hear the admirable organ score better on this CD than you can with your own videotape - think again. This is a completely worthless CD, as you can easily make a cassette or CDR recording off your VCR that will be EXACTLY the same, except for some irrelevant organ hymn music that was never in the film in the first place.

Brad,

Thanks. I knew they couldn't have use the actual music tapes because SabuCat Productions has them.

Heck anyone can release a CD of anything PD, but it doesn't mean it's going to be good. In this case, OUR CD would be amazing sounding..

Please remaster the soundtrack and have information on the soundtrack and also mention the DVDs I mentioned in this thread. For VHS, the MPI VHS is restored from the original elements.

Next, let's get that incidental music from "The Brady Bunch," "Gilligan's Island," and "I Dream Of Jeannie" on CD (in true stereo)! :agree:

The Criterion has 2 versions of the movie...The Original & The Directors Extended Cut in PRISTINE quality, direct from the original film elements. It is quite impressive.

Count me in, too. I'd LOVE to have a copy of this soundtrack on CD!

As mentioned, the Criterion DVD is EXCEPTIONAL! It's a bit pricey (like all Criterion releases) but is worth every penny. It is absolutely the BEST way to experience this creepy classic! If you are a fan of the genre and have never seen this flick, you owe it to yourself to check it out.
