View Full Version : American Graffiti
Probably my favorite movie....
I just picked up the two disc DVD of American Graffiti and More American Graffiti. I already own the "American Graffiti" single DVD. Any reason to keep that now that I have this 2fer DVD package?
I don't know the answer, but am interested in knowing myself.

If I'm correct, the new 'AG' from the Franchise collection doesn't have the bonus material on the original disc.

If I'm correct, the new 'AG' from the Franchise collection doesn't have the bonus material on the original disc.I believe that both releases include the theatrical trailer and the 80 or so minute "Making of..." documentary. AFAIK, Lucas did not do any additional digital tinkering for this release (he re-painted the sky for the opening shot before the release of the original DVD). Just to be safe, you may want to check to make sure it does not feature Harrison Ford driving the Millenium Falcon and Paul Le Mat behind the wheel of a Tie-Fighter before replacing the original disc. :)

If I were you I'd hang on to the original issue(although I haven't seen it myself). I have an issue of "More American Graffiti", and I also bought the new "two-fer".
I was appalled when I played "American Graffiti". I honestly could not see much for detail as it was so dark! I tried it on three different TV's and players- and it was all a very dark mess. I do have the original VHS of it, and I do have admit- it was a bit on the dark side, but I could at least see the picture. With the DVD I can't.

BTW- one of the best moments in More American Graffiti- music wise is actually hearing Dylan's "Like A Rolling Stone" in Surround! I loved it, and had to play it over and over. The only bad part of it- was that it was leading to the death of John Milner...

I'll stick with my original American Graffiti DVD...but I'm wondering, is More American Graffiti worth picking up? I notice a lot of the actors make a reappearance, but have never seen it. (I'm thinking in terms of the storyline, plot, etc.)

Have you not seen AG before, Grant? Or, are you referring to the transfer?

"More" is not regarded as all that good, especially compared to the first one...but I think it is good enough to have...but that is probably because I am a huge fan of the first one....
