Firstly, there is an *excellent* web site up here (
http://www.thx1138movie.com/).
Secondly, it's being released to theaters. I absolutely positively cannot wait to see this film on the big screen. It's been a dream of mine for quite some time.
Thirdly, yes, Lucas has made changes. I can identify at least two new things in the trailer: a robot cop sitting by itself and putting on gloves, and a conveyor belt of clones.
You can download the trailer here (
http://www.movie-list.com/trailers.php?id=thx1138).
Fourthly, it'll be a 2-DVD set with tons of info and commentary.

A great movie. When is it gonna be released on DVD? Did anyone ever notice that the license plate on the 32 Ford 5 window coupe in "American Graffiti" was THX-138.

What do you think? It's sitting next to my DVD player, but I have had no time to watch it yet. Maybe this weekend...
I've read some comments that the CGI stuff isn't too annoying, that Lucas kept its integrity intact. Still, I wish they would have included the original too.

What do you think?
I saw it on the big screen last week, and it was absolutely stunning (doing that was something I've dreamt of since I got into the movie, around 1989 or so). I figure I've watched it maybe 30 times, but I finally like I hadn't really seen it until I saw it on the big screen. Seeing it on the big screen enabled me to better see body language, facial expressions, and the human element of the film really got through to me for the first time.
The CGI bits were good, and I actually think they helped the film quite a bit. Lucas did keep its integrity intact, I believe. Except for the ape-like shell creatures, however. I thought that was a strange and distracting addition.
I agree it's a shame that they didn't make the original version available on DVD, but I have a VHS copy of the LaserDisc letterbox version, so I won't be needing it anytime soon :p

Apparently Austin had the exclusive theatrical release of this earlier this month...
Hey, I saw it in Austin, too! I had to drive all the way in from San Antonio after work to see it (and brave the Austin traffic), but it was worth it.
And you know what? Seeing it on the big screen, I think I was able to see a tube or two in the big computer room. There, now I've made this thread audio-related :righton:.
I'd love to see it again, but I'm afraid it'll be gone by the time I can go again. At least there's the new DVD set.
