I was listening these 2 Gold CD on my set this evening and found out that the "Greatest Hits' CD sound louder on same volume as compared to Hotel California.
Both CDs sonically sound fantastic but I am anxious on the differene in the loudness.
The Greatest Hits is made in USA whilst Hotel California made in Japan.

To me, this simply says that "Hotel California" has more dynamic range than most of the material on Greatest Hits.
Hey, as long as there is no compression added by Steve, why worry?

Grant,
You've got it--more dynamic range on Hotel California!
Bob :)

Thanks for sharing.
I have yet to hear a better version of the title track "Hotel California" other than the DCC version. The one on Hell Freezes Over lack the "organic" as in the DCC.

Uh, different recordings.
Actually, The live version on the "Hell Freezes Over" is very dynamic. It packs a wallup!

Especially that nice pulsing drum, very low...

My copy of Their Greatest Hits (which I just received last night) was made in Japan and printed in Canada. Interesting.
Sound quality is worlds above the standard issue.
Maybe it's time to start looking at purchasing Hotel California next.

The DCC 'Hotel California' is superb! I have it on CD and vinyl. I play them often...

I used to think that Hotel California was the most overrated album and song in history until I bought the DCC version. I was so impressed when I bought I that I went out and bought the Greatest Hits a few days later.

All,
The DCC Hotel California is one of my "I can't live without" CDs. Obviously, because I have one at home, one in the car and one at work. It evens sounds wonderful on a BOSE Wave Radio in my office...

The dynamic range on HC is better, definately. One of the DCC CD's I've been listening to more recently.
My girlfriend has never heard "Wasted Time" before. So when the reprise kicked in, she said "What's that - That's beautiful!"

Sckott,
I hoped that it created the right mood!

It did, if for both of us. I plunked down some sick money for dinner than night (I could have bought a sealed DCC HW61 ffor the same money - Hint hint) and the only thing that was great was the wine, the atmosphere, and the oysters from Wellfleet Mass.
"How could they screw up Prime freaking Rib?"; she asked.
"Uh, they just did!" I blurted.
Ah, that's when the DCC HC kicked in. I kinda forgot about the $4 worth of food I got taken for.

Sckott,
Steve "to the rescue" on dates. Another "big" reason to buy his mastered discs. My girlfriend reacts in a carnal way to Fever--Elvis as mastered by Steve and not the RCA version.
Glad your evening recovered!

If "Hell Freezes Over" is "hoffmanized" then it certainly would be different, but right now I enjoy the DCC studio version more.

The DCC Hotel California is one of the most impressive DCC Cds out there. The Title Track is killer, amazing dynamic range. Funny the DCC Eagle's Greatest hits runs a little slower than regular CD issue?
Not really Michael as quite often they'll speed up songs slightly to make them a little more appealing. Check out the speed of Money on the new Pink Floyd: Echos and then check out the MFSL version.;)
