Just picked up in Toronto mint copies of Buddy Holly For the First Time Anywhere ($5.99 Canadian -$4 U.S.) and Belafonte Jump Up Calypso on Gold ($8.99 Canadian - $6 U.S.)

:D

Anybody else pick up any DCC finds recently?

I am constantly amazed at how good anything Steve touches sounds like.

By coincidence, I also just picked up the Buddy Holly For the First Time Anywhere at a used store last week. I also found Rock the First Vol. 9 (the southern rock volume) in a cut-out bin over the weekend. I bought Vols. 1-6 when they came out, now have to track down 7 & 8 (country and dance editions).

I've been on a roll - here's what I found in the past couple weeks - all new and sealed (no cutouts) and all at very reasonable prices (less than normal retail).

Music For A Bachelor's Den - Vol. 1-8
Toga Rock 1 & 2
Too Cute
Beach Classics
Chris Montez - Greatest Hits
Beach Boys - Spirit Of America
Sonny Rollins - Saxophone Colossus
Pat Benatar - In The Heat Of The Night

I just snagged Steve's Ivory Joe Hunter on R&T today. Steve's R&T r&b items are pretty much all out of print - I suggest you buy them now because they are great. Also, my thanks to the board member who was kind enough to trade an Everly Brothers for a 24 Karat Hits!

Oh yeah, I recently picked up the following from Germany and Japan - about 35-40 a pop, not so cheap.

Heart - Dreamboat Annie
Roy Orbison - Greatest Hits
Nat King Cole - The Very Thought Of You
Ray Charles - Greatest Country and Western Hits

Anyone who wants a Linda Ronstadt GH Vol. 1 new and sealed for 30 + 3.50 Priority ship send me a PM.

God bless google.com!

Picked up ELO's Eldorado for $16 CDN ($10US) , not cutout ,at Future Shop. Can find DCC titles here and there in Vancouver without too much trouble, just not on sale. Even a few sealed MoFi's still floating around.
Would like to find both Eagles titles and Ronstadt's Greatest Hits Vol.2
Is it still possible to order from the DCC website?

I don't think anyone's had any success with that in a long time now.

Just recently I snagged a sealed "Saxophone Colossus" gold CD on Half.com for $19.99 ... Whooooo-wee, it's sweet!

At Future Shop!?! Obviously that store is a different animal in BC!!! There is nothing - and I mean nothing - in the TO Future Shop stores!

I saw a LR GH Vol 2 in Buffalo once - $32.99. Sorta pricey.....

Gary,

Did you try that store I talked about in Lackawanna?

Bob ;)

Hey Gary

I have seen gold discs at Future Shops in Toronto but not at $16.00...usually more like $40.

Hmm, maybe they're clearing them out....Gotta go and check!) ;)

Tangent, don't bother going to the one in Markham....

Bob, as for Lackawana, NY, I've not got down there yet. I should really chart out a route via the internet of all the Mediaplay stores and do the Grand Tour - and let customs duties and taxes kill me..... :(

Gary,

You could go via the Grand Funk Railway!

Gary,

The Shop in Vancouver sucks too. Their selection has diminished to the point where they carry the hits, a few oddball old titles and not much more. The DCC's in their stores are usually $40. I'm not sure why this title got singled out for the delete bin. They have other titles (Cream, CCR, Miles) at full price.
Though our prices are good out here, the stores to choose from are not. Now that Sam is dead we have A&B Sound (the best for price and selection) one Virgin (great selection, HUGE prices), Music World (yuk) and the Shop with a few little stores here and there.
I'm about 1.5 hours from Seattle, was down there last week, selection on DCC's very good, most in the $25 to $30 US range. Could have bought Squeeze on MoFi for $22US. Maybe I should have......

They do have the dance volume at my local CD Warehouse for $7.99 plus sales taxfor a total of $8.51. If you want me to get this, let me know by e-mail at cbsolson@paulbunyan.net or by Private Message.

Just got a copy of the DCC Roy Orbison at the Borders in Harrisburg, PA. They also had Best Of The Doobies and Eagles Greatest Hits, but I left those in the racks. I'm sure they'll make someone else happy when they are found.:)

Just got a copy of Eagles' Greatest Hits DCC Gold CD 2 days ago. This compliment Eagles" Hotel California DCC Gold which I get last month. These Cds really show what fantastic mastering work is all about.

Currently trying to secure Roy Orbison's Greatest Hits DCC Gold.

Good luck on the Ringo. Check out this auction on eBay. It closed on April 15th and hit $152 and the disc was not sealed. eBay auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=857026933)

I paid $60 for a sealed one from Red Trumpet last November and that was my most expensive DCC. It's a toughie.

Yes I know. I watched that auction and I thought that price was well beyond reason. For that kind of money, I'd expect Ringo to come over to my house and sing "Photograph" in person!!!!;)
