Steve,
Will you be mastering for the new Mofi titles?
MOFI would still be the competition for DCC..... so I'd guess not! But that's just my opinion.....

I think Stan Ricker will be manning the lathe for the new MoFis.

Does anyone have any info. as to what MoFi plans to re-master, release. I was reading
the latest copy of stereophile, and they mentioned something about them doing some
Kinks, possibly Muswell Hillbillies. I wished that Music Direct would provide updated
info. on their site about MoFi projects.
I agree with Gary. DCC and S&P are Mofi's competition. Admittedly there's not much of a comparison between the 2 though. I don't see where the "new MFSL" can even dream of competing against DCC/S&P with our beloved Mastering Guru at the helm.;)
Not for nothing, but Stan Ricker is not chopped liver. Steve Hoffman IS fantastic at what he does for remasters, but Stan can do some great things, too. I don't think he was given a free hand when it came to the early mofi's. He once told me there was way to much "mastering by group opinion" going on. Who the others were, we can only guess. I suppose Steve knows more. I could be wrong, but I believe Steve has a lot of respect for Stan.
Sam,
To clearify what I meant. No disrespect towards Stan but the proof is in the pudding. CCR's catalogue vs. Patricia Barber, are you kidding....

I don't think there is anything stopping Steve from mastering for the new MOFI other than a loyalty or a contract. Steve is essentially a hired gun and with in reason would work for anyone who wants to pay for his outstanding talent. That's why he worked for Razor and Tie while working for DCC. I'm sure if Capital called and asked Steve to fly over to Abby Road and master the Beatles, it wouldn't matter that it was not the new DCC or S&P. While Steve has a dream job, he still has to put food on the table and pay rent.

Bad example. He would be willing to do the Beatles for free. It may not put food on the table or pay the rent, but Hey, sometimes you HAVE to make sacrifices ;)
And I'm willing to cover his airfare AND lodging. I figure that ya'll can cover his food and drink :D

I believe that your statement is a bit unbalanced. I like CCR...but 'Night Club' and 'Premonition' are two of the best CDs that I have ever heard sonically that a record company has put out on regular aluminum format. I dare to say that when they are remastered to SACD they will sound better than a great deal of the gold disc output thus far.

MagicAlex is correct. Patricia Barber is a great talent and I'm looking forward to the SACDs. They have been delayed a couple of times, which is a bit disconcerting.
I grew up loving Creedence and enjoy playing their albums, but times change and people move on. Music tastes mature.
