A while back, Todd F. had good things to say about Doug Pomeroy's work on Mosaic Records' Jack Teagarden set. I recently bought Mosaic's "Mildred Bailey: Complete Columbia Recordings" box and I wanted to praise Mr. Pomeroy's work (and everyone else involved) on that set. These recordings date back to the 1930s, so there was obviously a bit of cleaning up involved, but not excessively, and the music really excels, as opposed to many-major label reissues, where they basically suck the life out of the recordings in the interest of avoiding any "imperfections". I compared some tracks to the identical recordings on my 3-lp Mildred Bailey Columbia set from the 1960s, and that lp set will be going into storage!
