Bought this one on tuesday, 2 Many DJ's - As Heard On Radio Soulwax Pt. 2. It's a mix CD (I don't normally like or buy these). But this one is different, it features: Emerson, Lake & Palmer, The Velvet Underground, Sly & The Family Stone, The Stooges (mixed with Salt 'N' Pepa), Garbage, The Residents, Nena (99 Luftballons), Destiny's Child, 10cc, Dolly Parton, The Breeders, The Cramps, New Order and a whole lot of other more obscure artists. Sounds fun, right.

Check out this link.

It's sacralidge to mess with 99 Luftballons!!!:D
Actually, this does sound kinda fun. I really liked The Cure's 'Mixed Up' and the mix of Suzanne Vega's 'Tom's Diner'.

Think it's just German for balloons. They released the song in both English and German.

It was a huge hit in the early 80's. A half baked and silly anti-nuke song with a killer synth riff and catchy as hell. I still have the 45.

In English it translated to "99 Red Balloons".

"Luft" translates as "air" in English. When used as a prefix, it means "airborne" so the title would be "99 Airborne Balloons." I get the impression that when they sang it in English, they needed an extra syllable to make the lyric fit the tune, so they just picked "red".

P.S. Surely y'all remember "The Red Balloon" movie you saw in grade school during assembly??
