Elvis Costello's new album is supposed to be on the shelves 23rd of this month and he's s'posed to be up to his "old" tricks! Here's 2 links to a couple of articles:

I heard about 7 tracks on a pre-rlease disc played in a local record shoppe while I was doing some hunting. Not a loser in the bunch.
This one sounds like a flamethrower.
I too am greatly anticipating Elvis' new release. I have been a big fan over the years and although there have been high and low(er) points, he has never failed to entertain me with his music. He also puts on a good live show.
I must have seen Elvis "live" around 20 times in London over the years (since 1979)...his shows are always worth going to. You never know what he'll play or the kind of mood he'll be in!
I have to admit I've personally been waiting for a return to his true form in recent years, although as you say..he has never issued a truly bad album.
The "Blood and Chocolate" tour of 1986/87 holds particularly fond memories for me..that's the show where he had the spinning song wheel and a go-go dancers cage on stage!! He played different stuff each night including his take on Prince's "Pop Life"!!
Anyhow, here's hoping the new CD does the business!!!

I spun the wheel at the NYC Spinning Songbook show, it came up with "What's So Funny 'Bout Peace, Love & Understanding"
Danced my *** off next to the gogo cage. A highlight!

As for that song...well they don't come much better, especially when he does it "live".
