Does anyone know if EH use tubes at any stage in the mastering chain? I think the current remasters are the best ones on CD but I really believe this stuff has the potential to sound much better. For me the EH Hendrix stuff is mastered WAY too loud. It just kills the dynamic range, esp. on the First Rays compilation.

This kind of "Experience" is common these days. No, nothing was mastered with tubes with the exception of the master tapes themselves.
