My vote goes for INAGODAVELVEETA, or whatever that was called. Was it the Manilla Vanilla Sludge who was the perpetrator.

Does anyone still have a copy of that?

It was too much. Great for parties, though, I guess.

Ok, I'm an 80's kid and I have a couple of bad memories.

'I Eat Cannibles' by Total Coelo. Did a Google search for the name of the 'group'.

'Every Rose Has it's Thorn' by Poison. The cliche song!
'Jus' like eeeeevery cowboys sings a sad sad song'. Oh God make it go away!

'Hangin' Tough' by The New Kids on the Block. The first fabricated boy group, and a terrifying sign of things to come.

And there was a 'Shiny Shiny' song but I can't for the life of me remember who it was, and a search came up with nothing. Perhaps it was all just a baaaaad dream:p

And there's one from the 70's, something about a "Brand New Pair of Rollerskates". Anyone remember that?

There are many others that I choose to forget. :)

Every time I hear that I can't help but think of The Simpsons episode where Bart sneaks this song into a church service as 'In The Garden of Eden'. After a long while, the Rev. Lovejoy murmers 'Wait a minute. This sounds like rock and/or roll'. The organist passed out at the end, after like 15 minutes.
Cracks me up:p

Dumb and stupid are two different things. Dumb was any record by the 1910 Fruitgum Company. In a Gadda Da Vida was also dumb. Dumb has a bigger appeal to me than stupid.

Stupid was things like "Rico - Suave".

Stupid is that current rap languege that Snoop Dog (and the like) talk: "Izzy Wizz Shizzy", folding down to Puff Daddy calling himself "P-Diddy". That's stupid. Stupid as defined by Oxford and Webster.

That would be "Shiny Shiny" by Haysi Fantayzee.

They were a British duo. Jeremy Healy is now a DJ, and Kate Garner is a well-known and respected music photographer.

If you think "Shiny Shiny" is bad, you should hear "John Wayne is Big Leggy." That song is supposedly about John Wayne having anal sex with an Indian "squaw."

I've always liked Melanie's "Brand New Key" ever since it was released.

It's a perfectly good song - a matter of personal taste.

One man's Melanie is another's Three Dog Night.

How bout' anything by Ray Stevens.I see this guy's music advertised on tv every once and a while. What a country bumpkin! He makes weird Al Yankovic seem like a genius by comparison!Other than that one particular song comes to mind:

Scandal-The Warrior This one had the line "Shooting Down The Walls of Heartache-Bang,Bang" just thinking of it makes me wretch!

Hey! What if Weird Al IS a genious!:D
I actually love his spoofs. Can't get the vision of him floating around on a hospital gurney singing 'Like A Surgen' out of my mind.

But yeah, I've seen those Ray Stevens ads on cable when I can't sleep. Ugh:rolleyes:

If "stupidest" and "dumbest" includes novelty songs, then of course there are hundreds of them. If not then we have to think a bit harder.

They're Coming to Take Me Away Ha Haaa is pretty stupid and dumb!

Peter,
I would say "They're Coming To Take Me Away" fits more in the classic category. I use to love to listen to Dr Demento's radio program and that was one of my favorites songs he played.

Now I'm as much a fan of Star Trek as the next guy, but what was the deal with the William Shatner lp. I've heard a few tracks and think that might qualify for this category. I mean Scottie beam me up on this one, no sign of inteligent life on this album release.

This one may be too obscure for most, but my favorite was "Run Joey Run" which came out in 1975 or 1976. It was a "boy gets girl pregnent, father goes with gun to shoot boy, girl steps in the way as father pulls trigger, girl gets it" theme. All through the song, a girl breathlessly and badly sings "Daddy please don't, it wasn't his fault, he means so much to me!!!!"

It was one of the most morbid and idiotic songs ever written. David Geddes was the performer.

Janis Ian's self-pitying "At Seventeen" comes in a close second. Her life was ruined because she wasn't chosen for the basketball team???!!! Well engineered though....

Wood Eye, Wood Eye! My goodness I was a horned dog teenager when the song came out! I don't think those roller skates had even been used yet!

I used to hate this song too, but once I realized how ridiculous it was, and how you have child abuse, gun violence, and quite possibly statutory rape, I started to like it.

I think you missed the point of that song entierly. It had nothing to do with basketball!
