I'm posting early this week because I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow.
Headed for Dallas for a few days and then down to Galveston. I may or may not get a chance to logon during the next week so, I thought I'd leave you with this bit of history.

Now THAT'S a chart.

Don't know how that Bobby Vinton song made it in there, I don't even remember it....

Cool!

Is "Suspicion" the same song that Elvis covered?

Elvis did it first. Terry Stafford's version is the cover!

Talk about instant cash flow. How would you have liked to been Lennon or McCartney back then?

Ah, just like Little Richard covered that Pat Boone song....

'Hello Dolly' was a great song in the midst of huge comeback for Satmo. I was young but I remember seeing him do this one in the early 60's many times on TV. These were his last great years. New Orleans jazz was enjoying a renewed popularity in general. It seems that I recall him performing with Kid Ory on some Disney show back then. What chops!

MagicAlex, Disney recently released a 2 DVD set of "Wonderful World of Disney" episodes and one of them is a "Disneyland by Night" special that features the very Armstrong-Ory performance that you remember. It's quite cool, especially seeing how Disneyland looked in the early 1960s.

I read somewhere recently that John Lennon had 39 songs "chart" in 1964. Of course, this includes songs that were given to other groups but that is truly unbelievable! Paul McCartney had a lower number chart so I assumed they broke it down by who wrote which songs rather than include all L/M songs as being co-written. Either way, it's beyond belief.

Thanks for the tip RDK. I'll have to check that out. I looked up that DVD and that whole limited edition series looks to be very good.
