Hi Steve,

I am new here, and this is my first post. If I am asking a question that has been answered already, simply point me to the answer.

My Question:

Have all the below been released? (These & GZS1104 + Sampler would complete my collection). (Minus John Harp's list of Unreleased that does not include the desired 7 below)

1-Can't Find GZS1080 Frank Sinatra Duets I and Duets II Repkg
2-Can't Find GZS1131 Joni Mitchell - Ladies of the Canyon
3-Can't Find GZS1137 Van Halen - 1984
4-Can't Find GZS1139 Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast
5-Can't Find GZS1140 ZZ Top- Greatest Hits
6-Can't Find GZS1142 ZZ Top - Eliminator
7-Can't Find GZS1143 The Doors - The Soft Parade

Thanks Steve, for all the quality music!

Regards,
BruceL

Other than the Sinatra duets packages, none of the others were released.

Thanks John, for the information, it is appreciated.

A Question: Is this the correct way to reply (using quote) to just one person in the thread? The format here for reply is not like on the Asylum for example, and I want to use the preferred procedure.

Anyway, your answer has enabled me to concentrate on just two titles, instead of nine, and it is appreciated!

Thanks,
Bruce Lackey

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the tip! Actually, I did review the discography here first, and what was confusing to me was that Doors/The Soft Parade AND Joni Mitchell/Ladies of the Canyon were both listed as mastered by Steve, yet it appears neither was released. That is why I considered my visit to the discography area as inconclusive, relative to my quest.

If the answer can be had there, I would welcome further instructions for next time.

Thanks Dave for the Help!

Bruce,

It's pretty liberal around here for methods of posting. I thought your previous posting with the quote usage was good. BTW I wasn't meaning to sound persnickety with my previous post, just trying to point you in the right direction.:D

Bruce,

I have all the DCC Golds except for the sampler and the repackaged Duets. I think it was Angel who posted here (apologies if I have the wrong member) and said that the repackage was simply Duets I and II in the same shrink-wrap. I have never seen it for sale - including eBay. But after Angel's comments I dropped the idea of looking for it. Still keen on the sampler though.

Hey Metralla!

I thought I was in a very small minority of folks that own all of the DCC Gold catalogue... Congratulations are in order... I know how hard it was for me to get some of those older titles... :(

But how complete is your LP collection? I don't want to brag, so I won't but I do have a REAL nice collection...:p

Maybe this is the start of a new thread? :)

Good luck in your collecting effort Bruce!

I've seen the two Sinatra Duets DCC discs pretty frequently in my part of the world. In fact the all of the Sinatra's seem to be the most readily available of the gold CD's. What definitely is in major short supply are the pop and rock titles. It seems like every once in a while you'll find a small stash of them in stores that are off the beaten path but lately I've noticed things have really dried up. I'm still looking for a copy of "Venus And Mars", the elusive "Ringo", and Sonny Rollins "Tenor Madness" and I'll have all the DCC CD's that I've been looking for.

Thanks Metralla and AudioGirl for your responses...

It has also been a bit difficult for me getting my collection to this level, as I didn't purchase my second DCC Gold until about March of '01. I only decided to go for all the DCC CDs two weeks ago, when I saw that I "only" needed 23 more.

On the rare side, Ringo, Ram and Portrait of Jazz arrived this week, as well as easier to find titles like the Sinatras, early Miles Davis and Art Pepper CDs (and some Mobile Fidelity stuff). I wish I had bought the easier to find early jazz titles sooner, as the music really matches my jazz tastes!

Now, if I can locate Nat King Cole's Love is the Thing, I'll join the search for the sampler!

Thanks for the help

I was specifically referring to the repackage of Duets I and II as being an item I had not seen. As you say, the individual Duets are relatively easy to obtain.

Ah! You've got me there AudioGirl. I have zero!

I don't have a record player here in the US. I have a very nice old Linn (Valhalla) in storage in Australia with a good array of MoFi's, but I stopped collecting records in the early '90s and started buying CDs. It was getting too expensive in Australia to stay with LPs. Now I've virtually stopped buying CDs and buy mostly SACDs.

I occasionally muse about buying a record player (I like the Teres) and I have a great hifi store near me - The Analog Room, San Jose. The proprietor, Brian Hartsell, has a fine array of top class turntables and an extensive collection of used and new LPs. Nice place to hang out.

Humorem's driving me bonkers with all his vinyl recommendations, but I haven't given the idea of getting a LP rig here really genuine consideration; just idle speculation. I'm still pretty happy with the direction of SACD and I want it to succeed, so I'm supporting it.

(Listening to Hilary Hahn - Brahm's Violin Concerto - on SACD right now, and it's just beautiful. I'm going to be late for work.)

I saw that Sinatra "080" package once at a Wiz store in CT. It is the two Gold CDs shrink wrapped together with a double wide CD gold sticker with the "080" number on it. I should have bought it, but I already had the two CDs, and hated the second one.

Thanks Jon!

I have already decided I don't need duplicates of those two CDs, even if DZS-080 was available. Once they are open (all mine get played) there would be no difference compared to buying them separate.
