Last month's issue of ICE had this as coming out on February 19. I love the group and have the Just What I Needed anthology.

I was able to get the tracklisting but no running times, and it looks solid. Healthy samples of their debut and Heartbeat City albums, but I wonder if the sound quality is going to be sweetened any, which seems the usual fare from Mr Bill Inglot. And unless my math is off Touch and Go may be a single edit. The CD otherwise would be over 79 minutes.

I'll be watching. Any thoughts my fellow audiophiles?

Brian;)

btomarra,

Have you got the DCC Cars albums? Nothing I've heard even comes close to them, IMHO.

How is it that you have "Extreme Member" below your name and no one else does? Hmmmm......;)

I definitely prefer the DCC gold CD of "The Cars" over Joe Gastwirt's HDCD Rhino reissue and the mastering on the "Just What I Needed" Anthology. Not that either of the latter two are bad, I just like Steve's tube sound on the DCC disc.

I should also say I'm not a huge Cars fan, either; the debut just about does it for me, but it's nice that Rhino is making a more thorough compilation that the "Greatest Hits" that's been available for so long (DCC also did that one, but I don't have it).

Yes, the DCC "Cars" album is a keeper. The Rhino 2-disc set is quite good, but not on the same level as the gold disc.

Both are enormous improvements over the original CDs.

Dave,

No I unfortunately don't have Steve's gold disc treatment of The Cars. I felt the greatest hits was good but a tad bit inadequate. Missing singles such as Hello Again and It's All I Can Do.

Oh...and Extreme Member? Holy Zoo was kind enough to give me that status when I made the transition from DCC to here. I was kind of knocked out by that!! It's certainly undeserved, but I am very grateful.

Thanks for everybody's input on this topic!!:D

I'm an extreme-ly annoying member! ;)

As far as this new Cars best-of, it would have to be a significant improvement over the "old" Rhino set. That one is not of DCC caliber, but has enough of their stuff to suit me.

Andy and Andrew,

Tracklisting wise it is an improvement. It has 20 tracks.

Attached is the link with the listing. Hope that helps!

Eh, think I'll keep the older set.
