Has anyone heard the newest remaster of this album (released 3/26)? It's one of my all-time favorites -- just curious how the sound is on it.

I haven't heard the newly released version but know that they remastered the cd in '98 and released the full concert in a 2 cd set. The sound of this collection was pretty good but I never compared it to my MFSL version. I wonder if the new cd is just a reprint of the '98 remaster or if in fact another remaster?

Yes, I have the 2-CD complete concert also. The sound is decent on it, but it's almost a little "boxy" sounding -- a little bit like what was later done to the sound of the "Tommy" set (disc 2) of The Who's Live At Leeds -- Deluxe Edition, but nowhere near the sonic overkill that LAL-DE sustained from that. I'm just glad they didn't try to remix the Budokan concert for that 2-disc set. It's the same mix we know, other than the sequencing/additions.

I've already seen this newest disc in stores; it's the original Budokan 10-track lineup from 1978.

The MFSL is what I listen to the most, actually. It's always sounded like an absolute flat transfer to me. (Care to confirm that, Steve?)
